The IGca is a group of people who live in the Coalbrookdale and Ironbridge area of Shropshire, England. We all share an interest in the history of the Ironbridge Gorge, its people and its events. The group is aiming to collect vital record information of 18th and 19th century people and to offer assistance to family historians, other researchers and interested parties around the world.

Pictures and articles are currently being collected and as we obtain new photographs they are being added to our photo database. It is intended that this database will include scanned documents - including wills, certificates etc.

We aim to produce computerised databases covering the parishes of Benthall, Buildwas, Broseley, Coalbrookdale, Dawley, Ironbridge, Little Wenlock and Madeley.

It is also the aim of the IGca to add a "human interest" to the bare records of individuals. This can be achieved by either:

Inviting family stories to be donated so that they can be included in the archives.

By detailing reports from local newspapers and linking them to the public records.

We invite inquires about individuals and families and we will use our resource to try and answer any queries and requests for information. In exchange for the help we give, we hope to receive donated facts, memories and photographs which, subject to permission, we can include within our database so that, over time, we produce a much richer resource.
