In our new project we are researching the various methods of early transport in the Ironbridge Gorge area. This will include the movement of people, resources and finished products for example by river, canal, pack-horse and tramways etc. Our aim is to include a human element to these various methods of transport as we will be including research on the families involved.
The group is continuing various research projects which are taking in such items as Schools, businesses, public houses and prominent buildings. The hope is to be able to compare the past with the present. This will be an ongoing exercise and we are open to suggestions of areas that are felt would warrant being researched.
During August the Holy Trinity church was opened at weekends and we were pleased to welcome a number of visitors - some came to look around the lovely church and others were seeking help with family history.
