F Millichip.

38911- Francis Richard Millichip joined the 4th Battalion the  Lincolshire Regiment.  He was the son of Richard and Mary Millichip, Wesley road, Ironbridge.

Private Francis Richard Millichip died on 29th April 1918, He has no known grave and is remembered on the Tyne Cot Memorial. Ref 35-37 and 162-162A.

B Hill

4464 Battery Sergeant Major Albert James Hill DCM joined the 25th brigade Royal Field Artillery. In 1911 he was in Dilkusha, Lucknow, India, with his regiment.

He was the second son of the late William Hill and his wife Ellen, of Ironbridge and was known as Bert.

Bert had served 12 years in the army, 5 of which were in India (so probably joined up in 1904 age 16) .  Previous to enlisting was in the employ of Mr  A Corfield late of Ironbridge, and now of Shrewsbury, butcher. He was awarded the D.C.M and the citation for his DCM reads;

For consistent good work notably when the battery and billets were heavily shelled, displayed great coolness and courage when removing the wounded  at great personal risk.

Bert was killed in action in Flanders 22nd May 1916 age 32, and is buried in Bethune Town Cemetery VD 23.

F Chance

17041- Fred William Chance joined the 20th Battalion Manchester Regiment.  He was the son of Mr and Mrs George H Chance of Kidderminster.

He died age 21 on 1stJuly 1916 and is buried in Dantzig Alley British Cemetery, Mametz VA8

T and J Roberts

John and Thomas Roberts were the sons of Thomas and Annie Roberts of Madeley.

Thomas Roberts

19272 private Thomas Roberts joined the 6th Battalion Kings Shropshire Light Infantry. He died of gunshot wounds received on the Somme, and died in hospital on the 14th September 1916, age 24.  He is buried in the English Cemetery, Abbeville, France.

John Roberts

17000 private John Roberts was killed in action in Ypres Salient 22ndApril 1916, age 22.  He enlisted in June 1915 and had been abroad some months.  Previously he worked at Belswardine Farm, Cressage

He is buried in Essex Farm Cemetery, Ypres .
